Happy Halloween, all.  This is going to be a bit of a different post, somewhat self-indulgent.  So bear with me.  Or pass, if that’s not your thing.

In the past couple of weeks, I’ve had a couple of people comment to me about contributions I’ve made in this election, both to candidates and to issues.  And they tend to run along the lines of (not quite seriously) “what, are you rich or something?”.  A few public comments have been much less charitable, and they’ve even come from people that I believed thought better of me.  It’s been a difficult time.

11/1/2011 Council Preview

Long night, at least for us.

We start the evening with board and commission interviews, and then we have a study session regarding adding construction requirements for supporting electric car chargers, which should be interesting.  This is a study issue I sponsored.  No special orders or presentations, so we get right to it.  The consent calendar has a few budget modifications, a contract issue, and two more taxicab franchises.  And then it’s to business.

“Yes on A” Being Bankrolled by Major Sunnyvale Property Developers

October 27th is the latest financial filing deadline for November campaigns, and the latest filing from the “Yes on A” folks revealed a big surprise – it is actually being bankrolled by major property development corporations  with interests in Sunnyvale.

Apparently, it isn’t the “citizen initiative” that the proponents have been claiming.  It’s disappointing that this would happen in Sunnyvale, of all places.
